Sunday 6th September saw my annual pilgrimage to Guildex at Telford. In other years I have come away a little underwhelmed but this year was different. There were some fabulous layouts and some new innovations to look at. It was the usual collection of traders but one really stood out for me.

ALSRM at Reading Review

ALSRM at Reading Review

The Association of Larger Scale Railway Modellers held their Annual show at the Rivermead Centre in Reading last Saturday. It was a must see show for the followers of the larger scales, with a splendid array of layouts, more than seventy traders present and a good selection of societies and demonstrations. The show was split over three halls, one for layouts, one for traders and a smaller one for demonstrators and society stands (Bring and Buy). Continue reading

G1MRA Exhibition Shepshed

Some of you may think that Gauge 1 is only for the rich, with an express locomotive and it’s train running around a large garden, but this is not the case having seen the cost of kits and ready to run rolling stock. It is amazing that you could purchase a Mark 1 ready to run coach for £200.00, while in 0 gauge you would be lucky to be able to purchase a kit for that amount. Wagon kits were about the same price as our 0 gauge equivalents.

The Festival of Railway Modelling – Alexandra Palace

Going to the Festival of Railway Modelling brought back memories of my father taking me down to London to visit the Easter Show at either the Central Hall or the Great Horticultural Halls in Westminster. I always looked forward to these shows as a child and I can honestly say this was no exception. The line up of layouts that were published lived up to my expectation, it was a superb show and Warners and the Model Railway Club must be congratulated on their choice of layouts.
