Flying Scotsman Set to Steam Through Nottinghamshire

An article by Barry Cooper in the Nottingham Post talks about the fact that railway enthusiasts in Nottinghamshire are in for a treat next month when the most famous locomotive in the world steams through the county.

The Flying Scotsman has undergone one of the most expensive and controversial overhauls in heritage railway history in recent years, but is now back on the mainline and ready to thrill passengers and onlookers in their thousands.

And it will make its maiden voyage through Retford and Newark as it journeys along the East Coast Main Line from London King’s Cross to York.

Having undergone a 10-year overhaul, which is believed to have cost around £4.2 million, the London and North Eastern Railway’s (LNER) most famous production is currently going through stringent tests at the East Lancs Railway in Bury.
