An article by Scott Kirk in One MK talks about the fact that the Milton Keynes Model Railway Club has opened its new headquarters on Bond Avenue, Milton Keynes
The lease had expired at its previous place on Barton Road and around 20 showed up, including Milton Keynes South MP Iain Stewart, to cut the ribbon on the new premises.
Model trains were on display for the opening, which according to organisers secures the group’s long-term future, which means further modelling projects can be considered.
The move comes one month before the organisation’s annual exhibition, which takes place on February 13 at Stantonbury Leisure Centre.
Around 3,000 people attended the event last year in what is renowned as one of the biggest model railway events in the country.
MKMRS is run entirely by volunteers. The club has been a home to railway modelling since 1969.Exhibitions, Milton Keynes, Model Railways
