Eileen’s Emporium celebrated 25 years in business during the York model railway show, Easter 2011. Eileen’s was founded by Eileen Pitchforth to supply materials for modellers. When she, and her husband Jim, retired about 10 years later the business was take over by Roger Sawyer. After 12 years the retirement bug hit again and in August 2009 Derek Russan became Eileen the Third!.
Derek has been a modeller all his life, a member of the Scalefour society for over 20 years and also active in local model railway clubs.
Derek has also been in international business for over 25 years and is fully conversant with international trade. Derek is one of the founders of Avonside Works, the designers and manufacturers of the Chassis2 assembly jigs.
In the hands of Derek, Eileen’s has expanded and his wife Anita joined the business full time in May 2010 and son Matt joined in October 2010. Also seen helping at some shows can be the final member of the family, Sally.
Eileen’s Emporium exists to serve its customers and provides an international mail order service as well as attending as many shows as possible. The primary focus has traditionally been on railway modellers, but much of the product range is equally applicable to military, naval and most other forms of modelling.
