A DEAN GOODS IN GAUGE 1

Having made a couple of locomotives from an assortment of bought in and scratch built components (mainly from ‘Plastikard’) they have proved to be reasonably successful. I should state the obvious at this stage they are battery powered, radio controlled and have the luxury of sound which, in my opinion, does cross the divide between live steam and electric propulsion. It does however add to the overall cost.

ALSRM at Reading Review

ALSRM at Reading Review

The Association of Larger Scale Railway Modellers held their Annual show at the Rivermead Centre in Reading last Saturday. It was a must see show for the followers of the larger scales, with a splendid array of layouts, more than seventy traders present and a good selection of societies and demonstrations. The show was split over three halls, one for layouts, one for traders and a smaller one for demonstrators and society stands (Bring and Buy). Continue reading

The Festival of Railway Modelling – Alexandra Palace

Going to the Festival of Railway Modelling brought back memories of my father taking me down to London to visit the Easter Show at either the Central Hall or the Great Horticultural Halls in Westminster. I always looked forward to these shows as a child and I can honestly say this was no exception. The line up of layouts that were published lived up to my expectation, it was a superb show and Warners and the Model Railway Club must be congratulated on their choice of layouts.
